Lantra Chainsaws & Basic Felling Up To 200mm

Description

LANTRA Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Basic Felling up to 200mm There is no doubting the chainsaw's usefulness – nor its power. But in the wrong hands, it is also a very dangerous machine. Our course will teach you how to operate a chainsaw safely and with real confidence. It's specifically designed for learners who intend to use a chainsaw only occasionally. This course offers integrated training and assessment, beginning with essential health and safety theory. Once the theoretical foundation is covered, you'll progress to hands-on practical work, which will be assessed by our experienced instructors. A key component of the course is chainsaw maintenance, where you'll learn how to perform daily checks and properly sharpen the chain. Following this, you'll take part in a series of practical sessions focused on developing basic felling techniques. What will be covered? • Identify the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a worksite • Assess trees to be felled for hazards and associated risks • Prepare trees to be felled and identify escape routes • Fell trees which have a diameter up to 200mm/8” safely and accurately using appropriate techniques • Remove branches from felled trees in a safe and methodical manner • Select and use hand tools and maintain them in a safe condition • Take down hung-up trees using hand tools • State techniques which must not be used for the takedown of hung-up trees. Learners are asked to comply with the following requirements: It is strongly recommended that operators hold as a minimum a current Emergency First Aid Certificate. Learners must be at least 16 years old in order to attend this course. Due to nature of the training a minimum level of fitness is required for specific operations. Whilst we do not want to disadvantage any learner, it is an essential requirement. Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times. All PPE used must comply with the AFAG 301, other HSE publications and current legal requirements in terms of specification and use. All chainsaws must comply with Arboriculture and Forestry Advisory Group (AFAG) safety guide 301 in terms of safety features, and be a model and size suitable for the task of maintenance and operation of hand-held chainsaw operations. Equipment can be sourced for an additional fee if required. Please contact us directly to discuss.
